Halloween Festivities & Follies
Halloween festivities have taken place the last two weeks of October! The weekend before the holiday, we went to a Halloween brunch at Rick and Ellen's club. Our two princesses were so lovely and had a wonderful time. Later that same day, we went to Boo at the Zoo (so lucky that the pouring rain stopped just in time). The next day, we participated in our neighborhood Halloween parade, and Indigo went as a fairy! During the week, Mommy baked yummy Halloween cookies and Indigo and her friend Sarah got to decorate them with sprinkles. David and Indigo carved the
pumpkins
and Indigo chose the design of a witch on a broomstick. For the big event, Ellen, Rick & Sarah joined us for an evening of ghosts, goblins, witches and pumpkins! After dinner, we took the girls trick or treating. I wore shorts since it was so warm and the rain held off except for a brief bit when our umbrellas were unfolded. Indigo and Sarah loved trick or treating, and we often had to tell them to only take a few candies rather than the handfuls when people offered their bowls. We have enough candy to open a store!
Indigo is ecstatic about the
amount of candy she has. When she gets to choose a piece after dinner she wants to pull it all out and make her decision about which piece she wants to have - tonight the tootsie lollipop won out because it was red which is her favorite color.

First Day of School (08 and 09)

We are so far behind in posting that we could run parallel posts from July 08 until now... Last year, I never posted her first day at school so as both a comparison and for historical purposes I am posting her photo of her first day at school last September 2008 when she went into the two year, two day program and this year, when she entered the three year, three day program. She has absolutely

Berry Picking Fun
We took advantage of the most beautiful weather to finally go to a farm to pick berries. Only the blackberries were in season, but we also picked peaches, carrots, lettuce, green peppers and a few tomatoes. This was Indigo's first time on a farm, and the first time for all of us to pick fruits or vegetables. We went to Hollin Farm near Paris, Virginia. This is some of the most picturesque parts of Virginia we have been too. We had so much fun that we definately will do this again!

Indigo's Belated Birthday Party
Better late than never! Since we went to England on the day of Indigo's birthday and then needed time to recover, we delayed her party until early July. It was also one of the first available dates to reserve a beach. Many months ago, Indigo indicated that she wanted a "ladybug" party. So we went with that theme and had a ladybug pinata (handmade by mom and dad), ladybug cupcakes and party favors of shirts with ladybugs and bug stickers! We have many more pics to post so we'll update this at a later date.
