February brings Valentine's Day and David's brithday. Melanie had a lovely day with Indigo and Sarah decorating baked cookies at Ellen's. I really enjoyed the yummy cookies.

Chinese New Year Fesitivities
The Year of the Rat marked our first Chinese New Year with Indigo. We went to a Chinese New Year celebration with several of the other families that traveled with us to China at a mall in Maryland. It was wonderful to see all the girls dressed in their Chinese dresses. The next day we took the Metro and met Pam and Robert with their daughters Elizabeth and Catherine and Ellen with Sarah to attend the New Year's Parade in Chinatown. Afterwards we went to the Chinese Cultural Center. Indigo loved the parade, as well as all the decorations we put up at home to celebrate the New Year. Interestingly she wants a book entitled My First Chinese New Year read over and over again, and especially is interested in the pages related to the parade (such as the Lion Dancers and the Dragon).

woo hoo, we made it to February!
The first Sunday of February our friend Deirde came over and spent the night so she could get to know Indigo. Deidre works with us so she just came into the office with us the next morning. Deidre was very sweet and brought Indigo a fabulous dress-up outfit and a tall giraffe for measuring her height. We had a lovely evening and then the next morning, after Indigo had fed Deirdre sufficient cheerios and had her read enough books, we headed into the office.
Melanie took Indigo to have her hair cut before the start of Chinese New Year - sadly no photos, but a much happier event than her first hair cut. With a fresh hair cut it was off to have some photos taken for Chinese New Year and also of her Valentine's outfit. We're including some of the photos of Indigo in her Chinese Dress. With Chinese New Year officially underway we looked forward to our upcoming weekend events to celebrate!
