Friday, Saturday and Sunday - August 3, 4 and 5

We had a terrible night overnight on Thursday to Friday so I was not sure how our visit to the folks at work would go. Indigo woke up multiple times in the night and I was exhausted after being up with her and then worrying about her inbetween. However, she had a really good morning nap and was very chipper (more than I can say for myself). She had a bath and was put in a pretty dress. We arrived at the office at noon. David's office is about 5 offices down from the elevator - we made it to the second office before we were surrounded by folks wanting to see Indigo. At first I thought the visit was going to be way too much for her and that we would have to cut it short because she seemed shy and uncertain and was "eating her clothes" pulling a piece of clothing up to her mouth for comfort. She does this when either uncertain about something and also when she gets tired - she falls asleep this away. Anyway, after about 1/2 hour we took her to the kitchen to have the lunch I had brought for her and she became far more confident and enjoyed seeing everyone in the kitchen. After lunch we took her visiting again and she was way happier. One of the girls in accounting gave her a balloon to play with and she was cracking up playing with it. She makes us laugh when she is like that. She was laughing and playing, throwing things down for people to pick up for her etc. She usually naps around 3 but she still seemed to be doing well so we went for ice cream in the conference room at 3 p.m. which work does during the summer every Friday. She was hilarious with the ice cream. She first ate from mine - a banana flavored ice cream - she would go to take a bite/lick and then pull a face like it was terrible but then lean right back in for another go. After a while she started checking out other people's ice cream - it was so funny. Lynda, who works with David ended up sharing her vanilla, chocolate coated ice cream with her - not sure that she had much choice in the matter. Indigo also enjoyed being held by Kim so that she could look out the window at the large fountains below. She was asleep in her car seat on the ride home in less than 1/4 mile. The folks at our work have been overwhelming in their generosity and in their excitement for us having our daughter. It was so moving to see how much everyone wanted to see Indigo.

She had a great sleep overnight on Friday - just waking up once if I recall correctly. At 8 a.m. we met our friends David and Elizabeth and their children Phiala and Zephan at the Starbucks. After visiting there we each departed with plans for them to meet us at the house later in the morning after Indigo's nap. They came over around 11ish and we had lunch together and the kids all played. Phiala has been so excited about Indigo and she was really good playing with her although she said that Indigo was smaller than she expected.

As you can tell, we were so exciting to our guests that they fell asleep! Boy, how much we would have liked to be napping on the couch too! Around 5:30ish our friends Stephen and Gabi and their girls Chloe and Isa stopped by. The girls were very keen to swim in the lake. Elizabeth and David were leaving because they had an offer from grandparents to babysit so they were going to catch a movie. We went to the lake with Steve et al. and Indigo loved playing on the beach with their girls. Chloe also really enjoyed swimming out in the lake with these two labs that someone had brought down to the beach. Indigo really got into coming into the lake from the beach so she would be at the shoreline, run in and then scream with laughter as one of us would grab her out and then she wanted to do it again, and again... Around 7 p.m. we left our beach and we all went to Beach 5 where the neighborhood was having a family bbq and potluck. It has started at 4 so we were a bit late but we enjoyed some supper and Chloe and Isa found other kids to play with. Indigo had her first experience with a hot dog and hamburger - she ate some small pieces. It was a really fun time.

On Sunday we did house errands and tidy up and hung out together. In the afternoon, around the end of Indigo's nap we were joined by our friends Allyson & Jason and their boys Jacob and Joshua. The weather was iffy - hot but seemed like it might storm. However, we went down to the beach and ended up being really lucky with the weather holding out enough for us to enjoy ourselves. Jacob was very excited to go out on the boat and so Jason took him out on a canoe ride which he loved. Joshua was less than enthused about the sand and did not want to have his feet in it - however, we remember his big brother being the same way so we know by next summer he'll be loving the beach. Stephen and Gabi came later and joined us with girls. Chloe was very keen to go out in the boat and had woken Stephen up in the morning talking about going out on the beach and into the lake and out on the boat. He took her out on the kayak with him and then Isa was upset that she was not on the boat too so she had a turn next and loved it so much. Indigo loved playing with Jacob and the girls on the beach - she was having so much fun. She again wanted to play run into the water, be grabbed and do it again. At one point the lifeguard said there was thunder so we had to leave the water but the kids played in the sand until we had the clear again. Fortunately (because it helped have the reason to make the kids leave) it started to rain and get more ominous and so we packed up and returned to the house where David grilled a great dinner and we enjoyed wonderful fresh corn on the cob, salad etc. Everyone left around 9ish. Our girl had been bathed, put in pjs and had a bottle before they left but she was wound up and it took ages to get her to sleep. It was a fun and busy weekend.

What a fun way to spend the summer, surrounded by family, friends and water! Glad to hear everyone is doing so well. It took Catherine a while to like ice cream, but now she's a pro! Hope to see you soon!

Love all the pictures! How wonderful Indigo did so well at your office! Just shows how well adjusted and bonded she is with you and David to be able to handle all the new people! Looks like Indigo is really becoming a beach and water lover!
