After three weeks of helping to care for our family, my mom had to leave to go home for a week. It was great to have her and it was great to see her and Indigo getting to know one another. Indigo was so cute "dressing up" Granny one day and she enjoyed playing in her flashing Princess cowgirl boots! Right after Mom left, we had visitors! We were so excited to have a visit from Shelli, Jason, Rou Rou and Hui Hui. It was our first time getting to meet Hui Hui and she is adorable - she just has the cutest grin.
Indigo loved having the girls in the house. Shelli and family drove to us from Michigan where they have been living the past year. Sadly, the weather was not fabulous while they were here - despite having been perfect right before (and with their icky winter they had been having, they were in need of sunshine). We loved seeing them and enjoyed a walk to the garden by the lake and seeing the first pink blossoms coming out on the trees. We went to our temple together and David and Jason spent some time, under blue skies, down at the lake with the girls where they enjoyed the beach and swings. On Sunday they had activities with friends and we went to partake of the Easter festivities at the home of our friends Mary and Terry. Mary had a little easter egg hunt for the kids and Indigo really enjoyed finding eggs for her basket. We had a great dinner and the kids enjoyed a bath together. During the next week Shelli and the girls had lots of people to see and catch up with but we did rejoin again for Friday night dinner and temple. It was wonderful to see them all. During that week Ellen and Sarah picked us up one day with a picnic lunch and we headed out to a super park in MD which has both a train and a carousel, as well as a great playground. Same sob story - I was still in the sling and unable to drive so it was great that Ellen was prepared to help me by helping with Indigo. The weather was glorious and it was a great day out. That weekend as Shelli et al. were moving on, Mom and Dad arrived back at our house. Their friends, Chris and Linda, who we know because of their long friendship with Mom and Dad, came to D.C. to meet up here with Mom & Dad. It was wonderful to have them staying with us and Indigo took a massive fancy to Chris - she loved him. On the Saturday we went into D.C. on the metro for the kite festival. It was so fun and especially great because we were able to meet up with the three of the other families with adopted
girls from China and the girls got to run and play together on the mall - we just love seeing all our girls together. It was a beautiful day with blue sky and Dad got his kite way high up in the air - all the way out to the end of the string. After the kite flying we took a great walk down to the tidal basin where the magnificent cherry blossoms were in peak bloom - so gorgeous. We then saw some other monuments and headed home. On Sunday, before Chris and Linda had to hit the road we took a nice walk to the garden by the lake. A lovely weekend!
